Punching In

December 9th, 2009 | by bpdouglass |

It certainly feels like football in Denver these days…

… but the Broncos will be blessed to spend it indoors on Sunday.

We are still pondering and analyzing the trip to Indy but it seems wise to come in and clean a few of the pieces off the plate of links early.

We got some concerning news today, learning guard Ryan Harris is done for the season. Mike Klis from the Post suggested, via Twitter, this diagnosis might come as Harris hasn’t truly been healthy in some time and was carted off the field (never a good sign). Lindsay Jones suggests Tyler Polumbus will be coming in to cover the duties, but we would ask why not reach for Ben Hamilton? Give him a shot at redemption and see what he can do. The guy was a Pro Bowl-caliber left guard not all that long ago… he could find the right side a bit more rewarding.

Speaking of the Post, Jim Armstong decided he wanted to talk Broncos, namely because he wanted to talk about Knowshon Moreno.

Our good friend Kyle at BroncoTalk checks in with the State of the Franchise (a solid review of the situation at hand).

Bill Williamson with ESPN offers this intriguing report on a set of awards handed to offensive linemen by USA Football and the Players Association, focusing on specific fundamentals of the offensive line positions. Ryan Clady was named for his hands in pass protection.

The Longmont Times checked in with an insightful offering on linebacker-turning -fullback Spencer Larsen.

Sayre Bedinger (he writes for multiple Bronco spots, including the new SportsFanLive.com team filing thoughts on the Broncos for NFL.com) filed some thoughts on the pending battle of doom that suggest the Broncos’ defense is up to the challenge.

Completely off the subject.

Ray Rice doesn’t like Green Bay.

Flozell Adams has gotten fat and lazy, and now he’s going broke.

The quarterback from the Raiders was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week… yes, I really typed that.

Chris Gentilviso from the franchise notes Knowshon could (and maybe should) share a weekly stage with Correll Buckhalter.

Of course, we top it all off with press confernce notes from the crew on Monday.

That’s all I’ve got for now. Stay warm. Stay positive. If you’re Brandon… just stay (think we’ve reached a point where Josh and the vast majority of Bronco nation would ask the same).

Thanks for stopping in.
